The
Branson Follies is a show for the ageless. It recalls the golden
years
of variety shows with golden years performers. All the performers,
including
the chorus men and women are in their
sixties,
seventies and eighties.
Songs
of the '30s, '40s and '50s are performed, as if in a Ziegfeld Follies
of
old. Age vanishes once the curtain goes up. You know those
long-
legged lovelies on stage are past their prime but it's hard to believe.
They
dance, sing and even do splits and appear in elaborate costumes
and
headdresses that weigh 15 lbs or more.
The
sixteen chorus members are all seasoned performers. They've
performed
on Broadway, in nightclubs, danced in Las Vegas and played
all
over the world. After having had their children and grandchildren,
they
decided to perform again. It gives their life meaning and fills
the
audience with wonderment and hope for themselves. Along with the
popular
songs are elaborate production numbers and the show includes
an
emcee who also does a standup spot, a novelty act and a special
guest
star, such as Carol Channing.
The
Branson Follies is a show which makes you feel good about the
inevitable
aging process. For two hours, you're transported back in
time
and honored, because whether it was your time or not,
age
becomes timeless and you're young again, reliving the memories
that
you shared while growing up.
