GUY and SIS HOVIS
Guy Lee Hovis, Jr. and Sarah (Sis) Lundy Moorehead were married in a private ceremomy on February 16, 2002 at Monmouth Plantation in Natchez, Mississippi. Guy and Sis met ten years ago at the wedding of her brother, John, and were re-introduced at John's 40th birthday party in February, last year. John Lundy and his wife, Hayley, were the attendants for Guy and Sis as they made their vows. Born and raised in the Mississippi Delta, Sis has had a distinguished career in Nursing Administration and is presently Director of Preoperative Services at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. She has two grown children,a son and a daughter and two grandchildren. (Guy has a daughter, Julie, who is in graduate school in Arizona.) According to Guy, they are going through the process of combining households. ("which may take quite some time.") They have temporarily moved into Guy's house ("and a sizeable storage room") and are presently looking for a larger home in the Jackson area. The couple took a brief honeymoon ("the first installment") in New York City where they saw a couple of shows and visited "Ground Zero" to pay tribute to those who died September 11, 2001. On the way back to Mississippi, they stopped in Gatlinburg, Tennessee for the wedding of Guy's niece, Heather. Guy continues to work as State Director for U.S. Senator Trent Lott and does as many singing engagements as possible. "Sis is taking a crash course in 'Lawrence Welk'," Guy said, "because she didn't watch the television show until she started dating me." As for learning about Sis' career, Guy says he doesn't really want any first hand knowledge of the operating rooms his wife supervises, but he has managed to learn the difference between the ER and the OR. Guy happily reports that "Sis loves Music, which makes her a perfect fit in the life of a member of the Lawrence Welk Musical family." |
